None of us here have any real knowledge of what Harry Potter is or what it is about, so we won’t be delving into the ins and outs of the book. Instead, we’re going to immediately direct you to the best 10 Harry Potter games you can play online.
Free Online Games for PC is high on entertainment, not so much on children’s novels.
Top 10 Harry Potter Games for PC
10) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The first recommended Harry Potter PC games free to play online is the Order of the Phoenix. While the Goblet of Fire game that preceded this enjoyed a change of direction, EA Gaming went back to an older formula that allowed the characters of the game to freely explore the game map. The expansion of play with Order of the Phoenix comes from side quests, and you will also come across discovery points that can be found on the school grounds.
9) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
One of the more popular Harry Potter PC games online was the 2009 release of Half-Blood Prince. This is mainly down to this being the last movie tie-in that lets players freely explore the grounds of Hogwarts. Like the Order of the Phoenix, the game comes with duelling features and free-roaming. One of the big features of this release came with the Marauder’s Map and the many spells that can be cast on the grounds of the school.
8) Harry Potter: Wizards Unite
If you want to play one of the different kinds of Harry Potter PC games download this one is for your iOS or Android mobile. Made by Niantic, this game was a huge success, which used the very same principles of play as the Pokémon Go and its augmented reality gaming. Made by the Pokémon Go developers, the same features and mechanics were used to help make Wizards Unite.
7) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Released in 2005 the Goblet of Fire was the first to be more restrictive in the freedom of players exploring the game map. When it comes to Harry Potter PC games ranked, this is not so popular because of the change in gameplay, but we placed it at under 7 because of the couch co-op feature, which is seen as one of the very best throughout the Harry Potter EA Games series.
6) Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup
If you want a completely different form of entertainment and Harry Potter PC games, buy this one. The Quidditch World Cup brings a highly enjoyable sports game to the list of many RPG games that dominate the franchise options. The Quidditch game does really well as a video game, which is different from how other sports games are represented, like in FIFA or Tiger Wood PGA Tour 13.
This Quidditch World Cup game is incredibly nearly two decades old but still comes with surrounding game features that make it relevant to the Harry Potter story, such as the story mode. It even comes with commentary that plays with certain matches. Great as a two-player game as the computer AI isn’t overly challenging enough.
5) The Sorcerer’s Stone
This is the first of the Harry Potter instalment that came to the PC world of gaming via EA Games. If you try the console version, you will find it to be sluggish in its performance, which is why the PC one is best. What does the first game possess? Learn new spells, solve puzzles, and collect Every Flavour Beans, which includes wholesome flavours like Dirt and Boogers. The gameplay is very much like Legend of Zelda, with the added addition of some questionable voice acting and some odd character models.
4) Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery
Become a student of Hogwarts and be under the stewardship of Professor Snape in this mobile gaming option. Hogwarts Mystery dropped in 2018 and is playable on Android and iOS mobile devices. The developer of this game, Jam City has made plenty of mobile games that include Cookie Jam, Bubble Shooter Snoopy Pop, and the Disney game Frozen Free Fall. The problem with mobile games is that you have to pay for any add-ons. This can be a huge turn-off for gamers, but it is still a solid game that provides a refreshing way of engaging the Harry Potter universe.
3) Harry Poker and the Chamber of Secrets
The Chamber of Secrets is the gaming sequel that does what all follow-ups should do. It takes all that is great with the Sorcerer’s Stone and greatly expands upon it. This includes the fighting phases like against Aragog, to solving puzzles within the castle. In every way that it can be better it is. There really isn’t much else to say about it, other than it’s brilliant, which is why we put this in third place.
2) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
The third of the EA Games sees Harry take on the Prisoner of Azkaban, and it is the best of the bunch in our opinion. This is gaming gold and what makes it special, is that you can control all the main heroes of the book, including Hermione and Ron. The game introduces more puzzles, and each of the characters have their specific abilities and spells to perform. Prisoner of Azkaban also comes with the most expansive game maps of the series, meaning more to play, collect, and missions to conquer. Fantastic stuff, if only these games were blessed with a remake using more modern software.
1) Lego Harry Potter: The Collection
If you want to go big, go Lego. More bits, more puzzles, more missions. Similar to the early EA games, the Lego Collection knows how to appeal to the audience of Potter fans. The Lego world is highly appealing and vividly beautiful to watch and play within. From start to finish, you get to progress through the seven years that the Harry Potter world plays within and all inside this one collection. Most definitely worthy of the number one spot just for the wise-cracking jokes alone, which is a standard for Lego games.
